1818 St Cuthbert's churchyard,Edinburgh What happened in 1818? A quick search reveals that a lot of things happened that year. My favorite event is by far that King George IV of England sets a trend by ordering a pair of boots made to fit his left and right foot respectively. Until this, all shoes have been straight, and left and right shoes have been interchangeable.
